About us

OUR STORY

Nestled in the embrace of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Stellar Roots stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of diverse caretakers. For generations, these 60+ acres have been tended to by native peoples, people of color, spiritual activists, and nurturing families. Our roots intertwine with the rich tapestry of those who came before us, and the stories carried in the whispers of the wind and rustle of leaves tell of a land steeped in resilience, community, and heritage.

As stewards of this sacred ground, we honor the traditions of those who have walked these paths, cultivating a space that reflects the harmony between humanity and nature. Our neighbors, sharing the same reverence for this land, form a community that echoes with the laughter, wisdom, and shared experiences of generations past.

At Stellar Roots, we don't just cultivate the land; we cultivate a living history, embracing the responsibility to nurture and grow in harmony with our surroundings. This is more than a cooperative; it's a living testament to the enduring spirit of those who've shaped the landscape, leaving indelible imprints of love, labor, and legacy. Join us on this journey where the echoes of the past guide our steps into a future of shared growth, unity, and reverence for the land that connects us all.

OUR MISSION

At Stellar Roots, our mission is to honor the ancestral legacy embedded in us and our cosmic lands. We stand as stewards cultivating a cooperative rooted in resilience, community, and harmony with the land. We revere the interconnected tapestry of nature and humanity. Stellar Roots is not just a cooperative; it's a living testament to the enduring spirit of generations, creating a sustainable future while preserving the echoes of the past.

OUR COMMUNITY

We work in collaboration with the School of Living Land Trust. The purpose of the Community Land Trust is to provide secure access to land for current generations and protect the land for future generations while representing the interests of the larger community. SOL's CLT model integrates Georgist economic principles, intentional community, ecological stewardship, and education. Stellar Roots structures access pathways and opportunities for Black and indigenous women to experience land-based living education around the world.

OUR Programs

We offer a range of immersive programs designed for Americans who have experienced agricultural trauma. Our focus includes not only the healing journey but also wealth-building strategies and guidance on establishing your own land trust.

Stellar Roots Education is fiscally sponsored by the Fellowship of Intentional Communities, a 501c3, tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Stellar Roots Education explores the challenges of living, leveraging land held in trust for present and future generations to promote personal empowerment, investigate community revival for Black Women of the Diaspora and inspire wealth.
